I hate baseball, but I was watching TV last night and there was a game on. The remote control had apparently fallen down under the chair, and I was already over on my activity points. Thus, this post. Luckily, it's Saturday and nobody's reading...
- It can be very, very boring.
- In the blink of an eye, something exciting can happen.
- Every once in awhile, you get thrown a curve.
- You have to concentrate when you step up to the plate.
- It’s hard to do as well when you’re on the road.
- There’s a lot of people rooting for you.
- Some people are rooting against you.
- Sometimes you need to go with the change-up.
- The game isn’t over after one strikeout.
- Every day is a new opportunity.
- Helps when you’ve got a lot of supportive teammates.
- Sometimes you have to sacrifice for the greater good.
- Occasionally, you’re gonna run into a screwball.
- In order to be successful, you’ve got to keep your eye on the ball.
Funny, as always, and sneakily profound. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteI think what you left out of this analogy is that it's "MIND NUMBINGLY" boring.
ReplyDeleteeye on the ball....always!
ReplyDelete*nods sagely* yes.
ReplyDeleteNever watched baseball in my life but what evs.
Yep, it's all about how you play the game!
ReplyDeleteBaseball sucks :P
Does losing weight like to grab his balls alot? Because I notice that those dudes like to do that often.
ReplyDeleteIt's annoying.
Candice, I don't think that's a baseball thing; I think that's a guy thing.
ReplyDeleteAlway remember - "The rose goes in the front, Big Guy."
ReplyDeleteBut Jack, it's our national pasttime!! I don't obsessively follow baseball, but I enjoy going to a ballpark and watching a game, especially if it's a major league game. Brilliant post as always.
ReplyDeleteMy best
Sean
You are so clever! Very good analogy. I must be very boring too, because here I'm reading your post on a Saturday night...
ReplyDeleteGreat post! Entertaining... yet true at the same time!
ReplyDeleteI love your sense of humor. The comment you left on my blog today made me laugh my butt off! (If only that were literally. hehe)
Love this post....hate baseball...but love this post!
ReplyDeleteI may hate baseball, but I would have so followed Babe Ruth's weight loss blog.
ReplyDeleteAlso, they both make me want hot dogs.
ReplyDeletesnorfling over the "being over in AP's" comment.
ReplyDeleteyes, snorfling is a word. On my planet.
xo
In both sometimes a face mask would come in handy. . .
ReplyDeleteSean, you think BASEBALL is our national pastime, or DIETING? I think more people are on diets than there are baseball fans. Jack, another homerun for you!
ReplyDeleteYou forgot one: Neither the baseball player nor the person losing weight look good in baseball pants.
ReplyDeleteHow about Sean "Icecreamerry"
ReplyDeleteOh, sorry...wrong post!
Oh boy do I agree with the boring thing.
ReplyDeleteMy dh is a huge, huge, huge Cardinals fan so we're a baseball household right now. Add the All Star Game in town & OMG it is baseball crazy around here. Couldn't even go to the farmer's market downtown yesterday because of stupid security & crowds. :P
Ooops, got OT. Anyway - love the list!
The only thing I can relate to is the first point. BORING!
ReplyDeleteBut YOU are awesome!
