Somebody made a suggestion that I do a post about my humble abode.
It's a 100+ year old house that sometimes goes for weeks without something breaking down. Come inside and let me show you around...

We converted one of the downstairs bedrooms into The Spicy Crib,
a media center/blog creation area.
Why The Spicy Crib? Because it's so damn spicy!
That's not a real beer, btw. Pisa gave me a candle that looks like a mug o' beer.
TV where I do much of the "research" for JSGF.
A healthy reminder that Anita made for our fridge.
You gotta admit, that's a pretty bitchin' refrigerator.
My other "thinking spot"... the hot tub house Anita had built for me for my 40th birthday.
Can you believe that my parents had this fantastic photograph
of me languishing in their attic? Shame!
It's pretty amazing how much light-up art I own...
My daughter Holly blogs, too; she just does it on her bedroom walls.
I probably should read it sometime.
There's Holly now... no wait... that's just a mannequin in her room.
Pisa collects weird things from around the world.
Tell me you've got something this freaking awesome in your house.
I just don't know...
Greatest. Shower. Ever.
You can't get one of these at Home Depot...
Who lives in this fancy pad out back?
Nobody here but us chickens.
We used to have a lot of trouble with hippies.
It's kind of a gag, y'know.
Does this tour answer a lot of questions or raise a lot of questions?

Ahhahha, it raises a lot of eyebrows......and raises a giggle from me....
ReplyDeleteLove it!
ReplyDeleteWhat - you're 40?
ReplyDeleteHow fascinating. :)
ReplyDeleteFascinating! And the poster about bad habits was in Hindi? Wow!
ReplyDeleteI love the hot tub house, AND your daughter's bloggy walls!
ReplyDeleteNice! Thanks for the tour:)
ReplyDeletenope, no questions... finally some answers...
ReplyDeleteNice, very nice. Yeah---questions---that shower, where can I get one?
ReplyDeleteThis explains A LOT!!!
ReplyDelete(In the nicest possible way...)
Caroline
I think it raises more questions than answeres them... but I am in awe... and starting to wonder how boring my house makes me look.
ReplyDeleteHi Jack. That really is the Greatest Shower Ever!
ReplyDeleteBearfriend xx
Oh, okay. I thought the Spicy Crib meant, eh-em, something else.
ReplyDeleteDo you use the side door?
ReplyDeleteNow in addition to your extreme blogging career, you can hang out a shingle "Jack's Sh*tty Decorating on a Dime" and bring in some big bucks! That candle made me eerily thirsty.
ReplyDeleteYou have a very eclectic house, not to my taste, but I love it because it's clearly had a lot of you guys put into it and is a proper home, you know?
ReplyDeleteOh so telling....lol Love it! :)
ReplyDeleteAwesome house. The light up Last Supper is a little too awesome though.
ReplyDeleteI want that fridge. I love your house, you wouldn't get bored ever. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteSo now we know.
ReplyDeleteTotally love it!
ReplyDeleteWhat an awesome place to live! Thanks for sharing :)
ReplyDeletewhat a wonderful and diverse selection of 'stuff' that surrounds you! Amazing. I admit, I find myself a little jealous.
ReplyDeleteSo when can I move in? ; )
ReplyDeleteI live close enough to you to see that for myself! I think it raises lots more questions Jack!!
ReplyDeleteGreat house!! Does leave questions though :)
ReplyDeleteNow that explains a lot about you. Love it!
ReplyDeleteAnswers. Def answers! lol
ReplyDeleteWhat are the chicken's names?
ReplyDeleteChicken Sh*t?
The list of questions is growing exponentially!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the tour!
Wow. This is amazing! I love that refrigerator. and the lit up last supper.
ReplyDeleteHahaha! Your house is excellent! Thank you for the tour. PS I'm envious of your daughter. I would have been beaten for writing like that all over my bedroom walls!
ReplyDeleteAre you kidding? That's my DREAM home! Everything from Dogs Playing Poker to Mexican folk art and live chickens. *sigh*
ReplyDeleteSomeday...
Hey, a girl can dream.
Love,
Jill
Absolutely, stunningly creative and gorgeous. You are a very, very lucky person to llive in a place like that. Loos like years of hard work and personalization. Just beautiful!
ReplyDeleteWOW! Holly's walls- HOLY SH*T!
ReplyDeleteWas the shower already tiled like that when ya moved in, or did you have that done? :)
Thx for the tour Jack!
Y'all are an artistic bunch for sure.
ReplyDeleteP.S- I never knew Jesus got down in the disco era.
If I use the side door, can I come over and take a shower?
ReplyDeleteYour house is like a funky museum. It's so cool! I'd pay to take a tour!
ReplyDeleteA big ol' house of happiness!
ReplyDeleteI love the transom window above the front door.
I love the chickens ... fresh eggs you lucky bugger!
That's a great pic of you, too.
Great house. And I love that fridge.
ReplyDeleteThose hippies that you had a problem with?? Did they decorate your house?? LOL.
ReplyDeleteLove the character of your house. Our house is 50 years old so not quite as crazy (sometimes we go MONTHS without something breaking) but it's got some of the same quirks and oddities. I used to "blog on my walls" as a kid too. :)
ReplyDeletePlease tell me you're looking to adopt a 40 year old logger named Tara. I think I know the perfect girl!
ReplyDeleteI can see why the hippies were a problem. I bet they wanted you to adopt them. So they could live there. Forever. And write groovy stuff on your walls. :)
ReplyDeleteLol I said logger...
ReplyDeleteI meant blogger!
Um. Yeah. That would explain it. Your house is as much of a character as you are! I didn't see any velvet Elvis paintings...
ReplyDeleteHey, can I come and crash at your place for a little while? xoxo
ReplyDeleteI'm terribly disappointed that it isn't REAL beer and only a candle.
ReplyDeletethat is a freakin HUGE baby picture. Holy Cow!
ReplyDeleteVery eclectic. Light up. wow.
My art history BA just shrieked in the closet over there.
Fascinating in deed. My favorite part of your home? The tile work in the shower. Love it.
ReplyDeleteWords can not express the depths of my jealousy over your home. It's the home I have always dreamed of. And if I'm out of debt by the time I'm 80 (not really kidding there), I now have my inspiration to make my own.
ReplyDeleteomg As if I didn't already love you enough, now I find out you own chickens. I <3 chickens!
ReplyDeleteBoth. Great tour, thanks Jack.
ReplyDeleteLove the house!!
ReplyDeletePretty crazy-AWESOME! The thing I would most like from your house (other than that epic fridge) is that "Bad Habits" poster.
ReplyDeleteI love you even more JS! I so see a lot of my Dad in you.. he was a crazy guy but it was not always let out in the same way you let your craziness out... THX!
ReplyDeleteI wish I had one l/10 of your creativity!
For me it answers a lot of questions. Thanks for sharing where you live with us. That is the coolest shower I have seen in 43 years!
ReplyDeleteamazing home!! :)
ReplyDeleteI love the hottub house and chickens place!!!
Awesome house, I love Chickens!!
ReplyDeleteJack, do you earn your living writing, or some othe creative work? Just curious...because I'm really just amazed at how your brain works...and that is a compliment!!
ReplyDeleteSo cool to get a sense of you from something other than the blog...your creativity is authentic
ReplyDeleteIt raises so many more questions..
ReplyDeleteYou're house is so wicked-cool. Love it!
ReplyDeleteI love your daughter's blog wall. What a great way for her to express herself.
ReplyDeleteSo. Jealous. of chickens.
ReplyDeleteWow!!! You're already in with me because of the chickens & your raw humor, but I LOVE the shower mosiac! We live in an 1844 Cape in NH, work in progress, of course. But my husband would drop dead before he's let me have a shower like that. You're so lucky!!!! Gorgeous. And yeh, that fridge makes a great statement :-)
ReplyDeleteNice! Your home is as eclectic as you are!
ReplyDeleteWow, Jack you are a man of many things. What were the hippies doing?
ReplyDeleteIf you move the chickens over to the hot tub house, do you get hard boiled eggs?
ReplyDeleteSo lame I know but your house is so awesome, everything I'd have to say is lame.
well my house sure looks boring now. :) your daughters walls are amazing. thanks for sharing. :)
ReplyDeleteQuite an interesting decor in your house!
ReplyDeleteYour house is a work of art! Love the personalization, antique refrigerator and the shower IS the best!
ReplyDeleteYeah that is what I figured. Completely awesome!
