Game On!

Weekly weigh-in: 207.5
Loss: +3.9
Total loss: -85.3
Emotion: Awoken

I woke up last week.

I haven’t been doing oh-so-poorly this summer, but it hasn’t been the stuff that weight-loss dreams are made of either.

I’m active enough, eating well enough, but my focus has been a little bit… well, lacking.

It’s not all bad. I’m not eating a bunch of crap. Even on my birthday hoe-down, I didn’t go batsh*t crazy with the chow (though I did enjoy a nice dish of fresh homemade goat cheese-and-basil ice cream with a shot of lemoncello). However, I have seemed to loosen up my iron-clad grip on my roadmap for this journey.

Sometimes good is good, and sometimes good simply isn’t good enough.

I’m not finished with dancing with the scale yet, even though you’d think I had by the way I’ve been treating my weigh-ins lately. Hell, I haven’t updated my numbers on my blog in well over a month. Shame on me!

This sh*t is back on.

So now… now, I’m bringing a little extra commitment and intensity to my workouts. I’m sharpening my focus on what I eat and, perhaps more importantly, how I eat. No more mad rushes at the dinner table. No more snacking over the sink. No more mindless eating.

And I want you to hold my feet to the fire on these weekly weigh-ins. Don’t let me get away with being a slacker any longer.

I may still get silly in this space from time to time, but make no mistake, I’m about to get very serious about this weight-loss journey.

Jack is back.

  1. Silly and committed can go hand in hand, I suspect? I hope so.....

  3. Um, goat cheese-and-basil ice cream? Can't say I've ever heard of such a creation. Message received; your sh*t is back on... Sack the Slack & Go gett'em Jack!

  4. Maybe your focus is hiding with mine and the missing socks from the laundry? The scale here is going up and down and up and down and I need to commit again too. Thanks for saying it for me:)

  7. I'll keep an eye on yours if you keep an eye on mine. Numbers, that is. Get your mind out of the gutter, jack.

  8. You and me both, brother. I am sick of floundering around. I am committed to hitting the 10 pound mark at my next weigh in.

  10. I'll make you a pact Jack. You recommit and I'll recommit. No more mindless snacking for me either. 3 meals and 1 afternoon yogurt is it.

If I'm going to get off that last few pounds, I'm going to need to stop reverting back to my old ways.

    Thanks!

  15. Was Jack-in-the-Box done with their slogan?

From one of the all time favorites..." I just want to tell you (both) good luck. We're all counting on you"

Ok...in my own words...it seems many many of us are in the summer doldrums...thanks for standing up, being counted, and getting back in the saddle...it'll inspire others.

  17. It seems this "slacking" thing is a contagious disease all through Blogville lately. But we all have the tools to shake it off, get over it, get back on the wagon , whatever it takes.

Let's all do it together. I'm with you, Jack! GAME ON!!

  26. Jacks back on track!! Good for you... love this line

"Sometimes good is good, and sometimes good simply isn’t good enough."

  27. Jack, Jack, Jack. You were never off track; you just don't go in a straight line. Say, shouldn't you have sacrificed that dog by now? I think your dogs got in and changed the milestone rewards, hoping you'd forget!

  28. You are staying accountable and that's what matters. I've said it before but maintenance is soooo much harder than weight loss. I am at a point now where I could (and should) go back to weight loss mode...these last 20 lbs WILL COME OFF!

  29. Great minds think alike. I pretty much blogged on the same topic. As we say in the South, "Let's get to gettin'!"

  30. Well, I think it's great that Jack is back! We all know that you know how to get it done...so go for it. I'm with ya..

  31. Back in the game!!! You can do this Jack. I've always wondered...is your name really Jack?

    ReplyDelete
  32. Jack- glad to have you back! Reading your post just inspired me- I'm in the same weight loss challenge myself right now and keeping focused and motivated is the biggest thing in this game. Good for you for stepping it back up and getting back in gear. WE CAN DO THIS! So let's do it. ;)

    ReplyDelete
  33. Not only can you do this, but you know how to do it and you have been doing it. Take care of business.

    ReplyDelete
  34. I now have this mental image of all your readers cracking whips. hehe So, come on, buddy! Make June the month that you look back on and say, "Oh hell yeah, I did that."

    ReplyDelete
  35. Keep it going, Jack! You are my inspiration! Honest stuff. Good job!

  36. You'll get it back on. The trick, I've found, is to find meals and a routine you love and can stick to. If you're feeling deprived hunt around for things to satisfy and fill you up and keep you on track. It's a balancing act. But it can be done ... 2 years and counting this way.
