How Are You Doing?

No, I'm asking.

Most days, I either get on here and act a fool or show you a glimpse of how my getting-healthier quest is progressing.

Today's about you.

Are you greeting the day with calm and confidence?

Are you leaping over the hurdles that life haphazardly scatters in your path?

Are you getting bogged down in routine, getting frustrated with the glacier pace of positive change?

Are you inching towards your goals, wishing it would all happen faster and more easily?

If you're like me, it's all-of-the-above.

Some good days, some not-so-good days, but a better understanding than ever before of what it takes to make a little magic happen on the getting-fit front.

I don't know about you, but apparently I'm not getting any younger (and who do I talk to about that?). There is not better time to get serious about this stuff than now, no better time to start than today.

So I hope you're pushing forward with confidence and conviction.

I hope that each day is a step closer to where you want to be.

We're in this together, you and I.

I'm doing everything I can to make sure that today, tomorrow and the next day are days filled with determination, sweat and good choices.

I'm killing it these days.

How about you?

  1. I've been killing it for the last 10days. Positive momentum is a good thing. I'm going to make today another great day.

  2. I'm taking it one day at a time. Some days I'm the windshield, some days I'm the bug.

  5. I'm facing the first day of my two-week pre-op diet with optimism and determination. Oh, and jell-o. Lots and lots of sugar free jell-o.

  6. Today is a much better day than I have had in a while and feel like I am in a groove again. Oh, about the getting older part (not that I am) that is what pushed me to start finally losing weight last year with the 50 years bday creeping up then. Now to just finish losing and start maintaining.

  8. Today isn't good. I ate my weight in lasagna last night. Physically and mentally I feel horrible. But today is another day. I'll do what I can.

  9. Today...I forgot I had to take my in-laws to the airport this morning 'til I got that Where The Heck Are You phone call..oops. So out the door I ran without my coffee or my pumpkin oatmeal with almonds. After speeding down the thruway and dropping two frazzled seniors off, I went...ouch, to McDonalds. For a coffee. And...yes, an EggMcMuffin. I was so hungry. The order was wrong and there was...a hashbrown in the bag. Deadly. So. I ate it. I brought the wrong McMuffin back to exchange for the one I had ordered...and consolation prize?: another hashbrown. The nice young boy who worked there thought he was being nice. (He said they were going to throw them out anyway) I thanked him, bit my tongue so I didn't call him Satan Himself. I ate only the sausage out of the sandwich, took one bite of the second hash brown, crumbled up the bag and threw it to the back of the minivan where my sneaky little hands couldn't find it while I drove home....so...my day started out wonderfully! I am 47 years old, and I want to be healthy! 70 pounds down, fifty to go!! And Jack, I love this blog.

  10. I'm not sure that I'm killing it. But I am slowly beating it around the head and neck.

  11. Still feeling very resistant to getting out there and exercising. But doing it anyway.

BTW, is it physically possible to get in all the recommended serves of protein, dairy, fruit and veges, healthy fats & fiber; but stay under 1500 or so calories? Cause the maths doesn't seem to add up.

  12. Thanks for asking J. Ive recently cut my meat intake by half (former carnivore) and filed in the void with avocado, sourcream, coconut/mct oil, a tich of super dark chocolate and only two servings of low carb veggies a day. BROKE MY STALL!!!!! I suppose my liver was able to convert to much protein to glucose thereby stalling out my keto diet. Im delighted!

  13. Today I missed my dance class thanks to the snakes in my life. No, literally, snakes. Their tank heat sources were nuts so my evening consisted of running out to get a rheostat and then, meticulously, scanning their under-tank pads every 15 minutes for two hours with an infrared thermometer to verify everything was within an acceptable and safe temperature range.

So, bummed about the dance class, but glad my younger son will be happy the snakes are well-cared-for. Priorities are weird things, and sometimes it takes staying home :)

Food is mostly good. I stick with 80/20, which works for me. Except when it doesn't, then I switch it up to 90/10 or 95/5. There may even be a brief drop to 70/30. Always a work in progress!
