“Welcome to my newest wonderland,” proclaimed John Hammond. “It’s a combination Weight Watchers facility and all-you-can-eat buffet restaurant.”
“Isn’t that dangerous?” asked noted anthropologist Dr. Alan Grant.
“It can’t possibly work,” remarked Ian Malcolm, the snobby-but-brilliant mathematician. “I wrote a research paper saying it couldn’t be done.”
“But we’ve done it!” smiled Hammond.
“Yeah, but your scientists were so preoccupied with whether or not they could, they didn't stop to think if they should,” insisted Malcolm.
“I don’t see what could possibly go wrong with combining weight-loss meetings with a delicious all-you-can-eat buffet,” laughed Hammond.
"Real life isn't a series of interconnected events occurring one after another - like beads strung on a necklace,” explained Malcolm. “Life is actually a series of encounters in which one event may change those that follow in a wholly unpredictable, even devastating way.”
“Ooooo… did you see the dessert station?” exclaimed Hammond.
“There is a problem with this place,” frowned Malcolm. “It is an accident waiting to happen.”
“I don’t understand,” remarked Grant.
“Fat breaks free,” lectured Malcolm. “Fat expands to new territories. Painfully, perhaps even dangerously. But fat finds a way.”
“Nonsense!” chortled Hammond. “Look, there’s a Weight Watchers meeting starting in the next room, right over there by the baked potato bar.”
Suddenly a low rumble filled the room, and every table started shaking.
“What was that?” asked Hammond.
“Oh my god…” stammered Grant. “I can’t believe my eyes: it’s Sh*ttasaurus Jax!”
A large figure stumbled toward the rows of steaming food, grabbed a plate and started piling it full, only stopping to stuff a huge roll into his mouth.
“Fascinating!” said Hammond. “Look at him working those powerful jaws.”
“I’m too busy staring at those tiny, scrawny arms,” said Grant. “Do they even work?”
“Hey!” muttered Sh*ttasaurus Jax, grabbing a second plate. “I’m lifting weights… sometimes…”
Then Sh*ttasaurus Jax and the others from the Weight Watchers meeting attacked the buffet like a pack of raptors. The carnage wasn’t necessarily indescribable, but this post is getting kinda long.
Hammond and the two scientists backed away in abject horror.
“Healthy systems are never in equilibrium,” remarked Malcolm. “They are inherently unstable. They may seem stable, but they’re not. Everything is moving and changing. In a sense, every diet is always on the edge of collapse.”
“I see, I see,” realized Hammond. “Well, maybe it’s time to try my other idea: a dinosaur-themed barbecue restaurant…”
“Please, God…” begged Grant. “Don’t say it…”
“Jurassic Pork!”

I Just Hope I Don't Gain
Yummmmmmm .
Sun Chips, fruit pies, please go away.
I seem to have found myself at another buffet.
I’m eating away my future, my life has become unbearable.
And day after day, I eat things topped with too much caramel.
I know to you it might sound strange.
But I just hope I don’t gain. (How I hope that I don’t gain)
Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah .
‘Cause so badly I wanna be healthy. (have a healthy bod)
But everyone knows a man ain’t supposed to be this heavy.
I gotta diet even tho dietin’ causes me pain, oh yeah.
Just gotta get my body to quit listening to my brain.
I just hope I don’t gain. (Oh, how I hope that I don’t gain)
Let me not gain.
Gain, gain, gain (Oh, how I hope that I don’t gain)
Ooo, baby. Let me not gain.. (Don’t wanna gain)
Oh yeah, no wanna gain.
Day in, day out, my sweat stained shirt
The way I always skip dessert.
I wait up on that scale, desperate for no gain.
‘Cause it’s a sore fate when I have more weight
And no one will ever know. That I'm cryin’... cryin' when I go outside.
To the world outside my blog, I try to explain.
Oh, I hope I don’t gain. (Oh, how I hope that I don’t gain)
Ooo, baby. Let me not gain, let me not gain.
I need to get on a roll if I wanna reach my goal.
Oh, let me not gain..
Oh, yeah, yeah listen.
I'm a man and I got my pride.
Give me a gain and I’ll run and hide.
Let me not gain. (Let me not gain)
(Let me not (gain) (gain) (gain) gain, gain)

Bottomless Weight Loss Tips
• If you’re a zombie, instead of brains, why not try half brains and half cottage cheese?• Hire a combination personal trainer/housekeeper; that way you can get in shape while still getting all the housework done!
• It’s important to know exactly how many calories your body needs each day; otherwise, you will live your life in sweet, ignorant bliss.
• Replace Milk Duds with Skim Milk Duds.
• You know what’s good on carrot sticks? Buttercream frosting (and the carrot sticks have been shredded up and put inside a carrot cake).
• I think it’s time for you to take a good hard look in the mirror. BTW, did I mention I’m a door-to-door mirror salesman?
• If you’re ever down South and decide to try a restaurant called “Hillbillies’ Chili’s,” do not – I repeat, do not – order the “Awesome Possum.”
• An apple a day WILL keep the doctor away. That is, provided you throw it hard enough. Take THAT, Dr. Johnson! THUNK!
• Cutting the grass is really great exercise. I guess that’s why the Hispanic kid I get to cut my lawn is so fit.
• Whorganic apples are cheaper than regular organic ones, but please make sure you wash them extra-good, okay?
• If you think the glass if half empty, well, I’d like to remind you that it’s actually half full! And made out of diamonds!

Saturday Morning at the Farmers Market
Jack: Wow, this Farmers Market is so much better than the first one we went to this morning…
Anita: That was a garage sale, dumbass.
Jack: Wow, it’s like we’re in a real farm except the food is up higher so you don’t have to bend over and pick it up.
Anita: Are you gonna act like… ummm… yourself this morning?
Jack: I wonder if they have fresh overalls today…
Anita: Do you feel like some fresh squash for dinner?
Jack: Squash? That’s a terrible name. Squash needs a re-branding campaign.
Anita: Okay… what do you want to call it?
Jack: Hmmm… how about “butter”?
Anita: Don’t you think it would be confusing?
Jack: You never think any of my fantastic ideas are fantastic!
Anita: Besides there’s already butternut squash.
Jack: Butter and nuts… see that’s trying too hard. No food’s gonna succeed tying two distinct flavors like that.
Anita: What about peanut butter?
Jack: Hmmmmmm… you scored a point on that one. What’s the score now?
Anita: Seventy-five million to three.
Jack: I forget. Who’s winning?

Why Losing Weight Is Harder For Men Than Women
• Who ever heard of a “Hungry Woman” line of TV dinners?
• Men don’t have handy “time of the month” excuse to explain gains.
• Founding fathers guaranteed all men right to “life, liberty and the pursuit of chili cheese fries.”
• Fact that men paid more for same job as women means we have more disposable income with which to buy snack foods.
• Men stay incredibly sexy even when we’re grossly overweight (well, at least I do…)
• Guys are highly susceptible to “dares,” as in “I dare you to drink that entire pitcher of beer.”
• Women burn a whole lot of calories doing all the vacuuming and cleaning and laundry. How can men compete with that?
• Less is expected from men fashionwise; no one’s surprised when we wear sweatpants to a wedding (even our own).
• “Women have choices, men have responsibilities.” What does that mean? It means that I was watching the movie Parenthood while I was writing this.
• Men have it coded into their DNA to carry additional weight in order to survive harsh winter conditions and to keep our recliners from floating away.
• My wife Anita once lost over 10 lbs in a single day (yes, my daughter Holly was a big baby).
• Men have to deal with the “perception” that losing weight is harder for women because of “proof” offered by “research” conducted by “scientists.”

A Scalawag With A New Scale
Dishwasher not functioning, scale on the blink. Nothing in my house is working right. So I went out today and bought all new dishes... and a brand new scale. A smart scale. Perhaps a too-smart scale... supposedly it measures body fat percentage, body water percentage, muscle mass, bone mass and even features something called a Daily CaloriePredictor™. Hmmmm... it doesn't say whether or not it tells you your weight...
Okay, I've read this three times and I still can't figure out how this hot mess of electronics works.
Waitaminute... I just realized that the owner's manual isn't in English. Why do I continue to shop at Grande Juan Carlos' Casa dé Bargains?
Okay, well maybe we'll just fire this sucker up and just push buttons until I figure it out... except I need a 9-volt battery and we don't seem to have any of those little square mamba jambas in the battery drawer. Also, we don't seem to have a battery drawer...
Luckily, I know where my wife Anita hides the 9-volt batteries...
There we go... this thing doesn't even need a battery. It apparently is just a device that emits an ear-piercing noise every time I cook...
You know, I read somewhere that a 9-volt battery contains roughly the same amount of kinetic energy as a bowl of Lucky Charms, but I'm not sure I believe that.

Okay, give me a week to figure this bad boy out and we'll be back in the game! And I'll have an update on my bone mass numbers!

Where There's a W.I.D.T.H., There's a Way
It
interests me greatly, the reasons why folks are alongside me on this
journey to better health. That was the whole idea behind this "Why I Do This Here"
series, and I'm happy to say that I've posted hundreds of contributions over the past few months . Want to join in? All you have to do is jot down a
reason you're doing what you're doing and email it to jacksh.tgettinfit@gmail.com (oh,
and be sure and include a blog link if you have one so some of my nice
readers have a chance to become some of your nice readers).
