Drink Your Water Like You Oughter

I know, I know: it’s tough to get down all the H2O you’re supposed to drink during the course of a day. Here are some tips to help you stay hydrated…
  • Imagine that you’re lost in the middle of the Sahara Desert and that you’re wishing for nothing more than a refreshing glass of water. To help build the illusion, dump a bucket of sand in your pants.
  • Add something to your water to make it a little more palatable (I hear good things about scotch).
  • Stretch a garden hose through your bedroom window and leave the water running all night; that way, you can take sips whenever you're thirsty.
  • Hire a “hydration assistant” (there’s a lot of recent college graduates looking to enter the workforce right now…)
  • Start an aqua garden; there’s nothing quite as good as fresh-grown water.
  • If you’re water is yucky, purchase a water purification system; if your water is too wonderful, purchase a water putridfication system.
  • Eat foods rich in water, such as watermelon, tomatoes or water balloons.
  • If eight glasses of water a day is simply too much for you, try four glasses that are twice as big as your regular glasses.
  • Make a drinking game out of it; take a swig every time you read “LOL” when you’re checking out blogs.
  • Drink from a solid-gold chalice.
  • Start making your coffee using water instead of whatever it is you’re currently using.
  • Wear a mermaid outfit to work.
  • When it rains, carry a giant funnel instead of an umbrella. It keeps you dry and you can keep drinking as you’re walking to wherever it is you’re going.
Water you waiting for? There's still time to get on the First Ever Jack Sh*t, Gettin' Fit Giveaway. I'm giving away $100 to the commenter that can convince me he or she will use it to make an impact on his or her weight-loss journey. Click here for details.

  6. Perhaps you can provide some entertainment ideas for us guys who spend the day staring into the white throne.

I've tired of chasing a cheerio around with my stream.

    Peeing is boring.

Water is boring. If I had $100, I would buy a Brita water filter which might be the problem. Does Brita make Bourbon flavored filters? I'm not a Scotch man.

Awesome! You know, I know I drink a lot of water throughout the day, but I've never really kept track. I think I'll do that today and post my total on my blog. Thanks for the idea!

  27. Just do it! :-) There are lots of foods that have water content so people don't always realize that it is water, foods, & more that can help you stay hydrated. Great as usual Jack!

  28. My employer has the nice expensive water-cooler style bottled water...so I drink lots of water there...at least 36 ounces when I am working there in the mornings. Score!

When I lived in Africa...a nice boy with a rickety cart pulled by an old grumpy donkey brought us water once a week...in a rusty old dirty barrel. It was dirty and yucko....but that is all we had. To drink it...we had to strain it, boil it, strain it again....add iodine or clorox.....it was all such a process. I definitely am quite appreciative of nice clean water!

    excellent advice...

  30. Nice tips! And just so you know, I love drinking water. I feel horrible if I drink less than 3L of water per day.

  31. So I tried the sand in my pants thing and I ended up with sand in all sorts of funky places. Which meant I had to get in the shower. Ergo. Water.

    Thanks!

  32. If you drink every time you see LOL you may run the risk of PML (peeing myself laughing) but maybe that's a sign you've drunk enough if you've lost count of how many glasses.....

  33. To further enhance the Sahara desert feeling, I'd say to turn the heat in your house up to 90 degrees.
