  3. Nov 14? Thats like 1.5 months away. I can run 1-2 blocks at most right now, ugh. As a survivor I have a soft spot for cancer challenges, hhmmm... on my way to her sight.

Oh Jack, you've got something in your eye.

  4. Holy Moly it must be 5k season. I am walking/jogging a 5k on October 30, 2010. I have been more or less trying to train for one without saying I was for two months now. I want to get my personal ones down to below 45 minutes before I do one. I have a month to get there!

  6. Ok Jack if you can do it so can I so I'm in. Hopefully I'll still have a left ankle attached after the half marathon walk on Oct 16th lol. Way to go to Kelly for running for her dad too.

  7. That's my daughter's bday. ;) So I won't be running then. Was looking into 5k's somewhere between October and November though, so I may end up doing one in that general time frame.

Good luck, Jack! You're gonna do great. ;)

  8. Jack, you'll be running marathons in no time, you don't fool me mister!!

  9. I'll be running that day - and I let Kelly know! (now to figure out how to motivate Jack to mention ME in a blog...haha)

  10. ARGH! and I WANT to get back to running. Post-surgically inadvisable at this time.

Jack, oh Jack, why do you torture me so?

  11. Patrick, that's the beauty of most 5k's I've ever seen/been involved in/volunteered to help out at. You don't have to "run" the 5k. You can walk the entire thing if you so desired. It's all about coming out to show support for the charity involved and raising some money. I signed up for my first 5k for November as well, just waiting for my confirmation. I'm nervous but I can do it!

  12. I'm not a runner and only decided yesterday to look for a "walk" to do next summer, but I have an exercycle so I'll exercycle 5 miles on Sunday, November 14 2010. Thanks for the challenge, JackSh*t and Kelly!

  14. Jack,
You are so full of sh*t! Are you telling me, that you have lost ALL this weight AND you are a succesfull blogger, with thousands of followers, and upcoming public speaking engagements with a book deal in your future and they've just hired to Ben Affleck to play you in the movie of your life and YOU'VE NEVER RUN A 5k????? You're a SHAM, a FRAUD, a big FAT FAKER! I just flat out don't believe you! If my fat ass can do it, your ass can do it too! "You tried but could only make it 3.1 miles." What kind of horsesh*t is THAT?

I accept your challenge...and use my long black leather glove so smack you smartly across your face.....twhap, thwap!!

    It's SO ON!!!

  17. November 14th. I'll do it. It will be a walk/run. I'll take a look at her site.

  18. You can do it Jack. The rest of you can also do it. I am doing a half-marathon on Oct 3rd and a full marathon on Nov 7th so I have that part covered. I will be doing a 8 mile trail walk/run with my running group on Nov 13th.

Like others have said you don't have to run the race. I am walking/running the half-marathon and the full marathon is all walking (probably a little running at the end).

    Good luck everyone.

  19. I started walk/running in March and by Sept 5th had a 10k under my belt. Its a bit addictive. Oh and I'm in my 40's and was always the last to be chosen in school sports ;)

I'll probably be running 5k on the 13th, I'll think of you. I know you can do it.

    Sebbie

PS did I mention I love your blog?

  20. I know you can and WILL do it. I know I can't and won't run it, but can and WILL walk it!

  21. Piece o' cake.

How about this then. 'My Charity' fun walk.

Boxer Day Half Marathon on 26th December.

That's what I've been training for one whole day. Did you know it's not 14 kilometres but 14 miles?

Just to confuse me my friend told me the official half marathon distance is 21 km.

    I can walk a 5K. Yay! November 14th. That's a date.

  27. Love the new glasses, but I'm biased. ;) I'll check for contact counterparts the next time I'm at the ol' dollar general.

I need to get back in those running shoes. The level of guilt ass you just dripped on me just might do the trick.

  28. I'm planning on running one about 3 weeks later. You've just given me the kick in the ass I needed.

  30. I'm gonna start with rock that 5K, Jack! You can do it!

...And then also say that I freaking hate running. It's boring and painful and I'm afraid it's screwing up my knees worse than they already are. So I shan't be participating in this challenge, but I hope the rest of you have a good time. :D
